The young adult degenerative hip is a challenging problem. Traditional hip replacements are successful and provide excellent pain relief but require significant bone removal to place the components. This can lead to difficulties later in life when revision hip replacements are necessary.
Surface Replacement Arthroplasty, or Hip Resurfacing, removes minimal amounts of bone for the replacement, leaving much of the bone intact for later reconstruction.
Roseville Orthopedics surgeon, Dr. Rafael Neiman, MD, performs these technically demanding procedures.

The most common hip replacement we do is through an incision on the side of the hip and pelvis, where the large muscles of the gluteus maximus and others are separated and temporarily detached.

are performed through a smaller less-invasive, muscle sparing approach that can lessen the soft tissue trauma required to perform the surgery.
Patient needs are considered and appropriate selection is required for this innovative technique, performed at Rosevill Orthopedics by Drs. Kevin Luong, MD and Rafael Neiman, MD.
